A perfect lunch or dinner. Easy to prepare, short preparation time ... just the desire to have. The classic potatoes in a new combination: broth, sausages and red onions. Worth a try, good appetite!

  • 4 potatoes (large)
  • 1 red onion (large)
  • 5 tablespoons broth (1/2 cup water)
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 4-5 homemade sausages (smoked and dried)
  • 4 tablespoons oil
  • salt pepper

Preparation time: less than 30 minutes

RECIPE PREPARATION Rustic potatoes:

We clean and wash the potatoes and onions. Cut the potatoes into cubes and mix them with oil, thyme, salt and pepper. Put the potatoes in a tray lined with baking paper, sprinkle abundantly with the broth diluted with water. Place thick slices of red onion and sausage on top. Put the tray in the preheated oven. After 15 minutes, turn the potatoes and repeat the operation every 10 minutes.

Careful! Due to the broth, it is possible to caramelize the potatoes too much. The fire must be medium. Baking time: 40 minutes.

Rustic potatoes can be served with: fresh tomatoes, green onions or even garlic sauce.

It is interesting that potatoes arrived in Russia during the reign of Peter I and were considered an overseas delicacy. In our time he won the hearts not only of the Russians but also of the surrounding peoples.


Come to the table 2018! Hundred-year-old recipes and culinary shows in the Little Square

The second edition of the gastronomic festival “Come to the table! Long-forgotten recipes, rediscovered recipes! ” will bring to Piața Mică a hundred-year-old recipe: roasted outlaw ram, but also other traditional dishes from the Sibiu area.

Also during the festival there will be culinary demonstrations presented by four Sibiu chefs.

”There will be two days in which the old Sibiu cuisine will intertwine in a perfect harmony with the modern recipes prepared by chefs Marius Rafa, Ghiță Andreica, Marius Muntean and Manuel Betto Pecori. The four will come with modern and delicious reinterpretations of the Angus calf, the outlaw ram, the trout and the bird's milk ", revealed Ioana Curta, the president of the E-Xplorator Association, the organizer of the event.

The mobile kitchen located in Piața Mică will open on Saturday morning, at 10.00, and Sibiu residents and tourists will be able to enjoy authentic food until 23.00, the same schedule being valid for Sunday. In addition to the outlaw ram, other delicious recipes will be cooked: Smoked bean soup with red onion salad, Cold tomato soup, Angus beef stew in a cauldron, Grilled trout with polenta and mujdei, Poultry milk and with breadcrumbs.

Culinary demonstrations and folk music

The culinary demonstrations will take place on Saturday, the first day of the festival, after 17.00, and the chefs will reveal the secrets of all those who will be present in the Small Square, through a huge screen that will be placed next to the kitchen. The traditional atmosphere will be maintained by the folk music ensemble Doruri Sibiene.

"Come to the table! Long-forgotten recipes, rediscovered recipes! ” is a project realized by the E-Xplorator Association, in partnership with the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu and co-financed by the City Hall of Sibiu, through the Cultural Agenda.
